Ascension Day

Our festival of Easter begins to draw to a close with the celebration of Ascension Day on Thursday the 13th May.  At Ascension we remember how Jesus returned to his heavenly Father, stepping through the veil the falls between the physical and the spiritual taking with him our humanity.  This he did in preparation for the sending of ther Holy Spirit upon his disciples, fulfilling the prophecy of Joel who foresaw God pouring out his Spirit upon all flesh.  The sending of the Holy Spirit meant that people could experience the risen Christ in all places on earth throughuot all time.  Something impossible whilst he was bound by earthly and bodily limitations.

We shall be marking Ascension Day with a eucharist in church at 7.30 p.m.  The service will also be streamed via Zoom, check our Facebook page (Mobberley Vicar) for the link.

The Feast of Pentecost

Our celebration of Easter comes to a close with the Feast of Pentecost and the sending of the Holy Spirit.  For 2000 years the Spirit of God has been inexhaustably poured upon the people of God, enabling them to perform feats of incredible courage and of power and drawing them into an ever deeper relationship with the living God.  That self same Spirit is being poured upon His Church now and through it the people of God are still engaged in ministry and service, revealing God's love for the world and his presence in it.

We shall be marking Pentecost with a service of Holy Communion on Sunday 23rd May at 10.00 a.m.  This service will be streamed via Zoom.
